No liberty taken (excuse the oxymoron), all flag proportions are per official U.S. Flag Executive Order 10834
No shortcuts taken either: The red and white stripes are not painted onto the board but are built of individual strips of wood--all 13 of them--stacking on each other to give definition and dimensional quality to the flag. And the field of blue is made of a completely different, solid section of wood (i.e. no seams that don't belong t)
