African Nkisi nail fetish statue of the BAKONGO tribe from D.R. Congo.
In African art, Nkisis are the embodiment of voodoo and witchcraft. Nkisis don’t only cure but also protect and promote hunting or fishing. It can also be used as a weapon and have a negative effect on the people involved. Magic charges were put into the cavity on the front and in the basket on the back.
Lots of charges on the body, bones, rope and mud.
On the belly a container for "Bilongo", empowering materials or medicines. This is called the eye of the soul.
Good condition, but with signs of use. Some age related cracks in the wood. Please study the photos well.
