Description
African Nkisi Kozo Dog Fetish statue of the BAKONGO tribe from Congo. The dog statue has a seated position which is rare.In African art, Nkisis are the embodiment of voodoo and witchcraft. Nkisis don’t only cure but also protect and promote hunting or fishing. It can also be used as a weapon and have a negative effect on the people involved.
Nails were hammered into the statue to activate its spiritual power. Magic charges were put into the tongue, which is made out of cloth. Chains around the middle and neck.
The Kozo dog shows several signs of wear, but is in good condition. Chip on the left ear and traces of (inactive) insects on the bottem. Have a good look at the pictures.
