Up for auction is this great and very rare New York, Ontario & Western Railroad (NYO&WRR)  marked wood handled club hammer.  A club hammer is a hand held sledge hammer used for many different things by railroad companies.  Marked on the side of the metal sledge head "NYO&WRR".  Also marked on the bottom of the sledge head with the same marking.  The New York, Ontario & Western Railroad operated from 1884-1957.   The hammer we are selling was probably used from the late 1800's to early 1900's.  It has a long wood handle and heavy metal head.  Measures about 12 inches long.  No manufacturers markings.  Well intact and usable.  Some expected wear to head ends, where it was used to hammer items. Wood has a small chip near the top.  Wood and metal exhibit a great antique patina!  A terrific and very hard to find piece in nice shape and a wonderful addition to any Railroadiana collection.  Offered with NO RESERVE!!
