Vintage, French, wooden polished spindled stand.
Originally an umbrella/walking cane stand, it has been re-purposed as a plant stand. A shallow copper tray, with two handles, rests, nestled, into the top opening to accommodate a pot plant. The copper tray can be removed and the stand can be used as an umbrella/ walking stick storage stand, as originally intended.
A versatile stand, perfect for hallways/entryways and library/reading rooms. It is solid, sturdy and super stylish.
It stands 52cms/ 20½" tall. The base is 26cms/ 10¼" diameter. The opening is 18cms/ 7" diameter. The stand is genuine vintage and therefore has some surface scratches/scapes from years of genuine use. The varnish has slight signs of "wear" and dis-colouration and is slightly "rough" in places, adding extra authenticity and charm. It has many, many years of service yet to offer.
A wonderful, unusual stand from a "by-gone" era!
The copper tray measures 20cms/ 7¾" diameter (26cms/ 10¼" to the brass handles) and is 5cms/ 2" deep. It is hand hammered, with a gorgeous patina, mis-shapen, original and authentic.
Together the stand and tray weigh 2.2kgs/ 4.85 lbs.
