The box doubles as a chess board with a decoupage surface that uses real pieces of maps in alternating squares and in the center.
Chess board measures 11.5" square and 0.75" high when opened.
Each 1.5" tall pawn is in the shape of a small matryoshka doll and bears the caricature, apparently hand-painted, of a prominent US or Russian leader.
The side of each pawn (except one) bears the name of the political figure it represents.  The Russian names are written in Cyrillic letters.
The one female figure, which is not labeled, appears to represent Hillary Clinton on one side and Huma Abedin on the other.
Russian leaders represented are:
Putin, Andropov, Stalin, Brezhnev, Gorbachev, Yeltsin, Lenin, and Khrushchev.
American leaders represented are:
H. Clinton, G.H.W. Bush, Reagan, Carter, J. F. Kennedy, Ford, Nixon, and B. Clinton.
The other pieces on each side of the board are painted appropriately with either red with a yellow star and hammer and sickle for  Russian set, or American flag themed stars and stripes for the American side.
